  • Approve Minutes
    • All members attended today’s meeting. Megan Ord motioned to approve last month’s minutes. Sarajane seconded the motion, the council unanimously agreed to approve the March 2023 minutes.
  • TSSP, Land Trust and Positive Behavior plan submitted to district no later than April 17 or as soon as complete; signed signature page accompanies plans.
    • The plan was put on the website and submitted Monday (April 10th).
  • LAND Trust plans reviewed by School Performance, any necessary changes conveyed to SCC and then submitted to Board of Education.
    • Council discussed; no changes submitted at this time.
  • SCC discuss elections, open seats; especially if SCC holds a spring election.  If SCC holds spring election, advertise open seats and how/when election happens.
    • We hold fall elections
    • Principal Watts discussed the openings and returning members.
  • Review current year’s LAND Trust plan, data and expenditures and review if on course or if amendments are necessary.
    • Principal Watts reviewed the current budget. The SCC is in a good position, and we are projected to stay within the 10% requirement of money allowed to roll over to the next school year.
    • No amendments are necessary at this time.
  • Update school website with current agenda/minutes/information from meeting
    • Van De Graaff will do this.
    • We have completed our tasks.
    • Thank you all for your service and support.
      • The council decided to meet in May for an opportunity to meet the new principal and view end of year data from testing that will happen this month.
    • Jessica (on behalf of herself and other parents in the school who have voiced concern to her) asked questions about specific school safety procedures and resources in light of recent school shootings in the nation.
    • Principal Watts reminded the council of the upcoming district parent night on April 20th which will be focused on school safety.
    • Megan Guiterrez mentioned that the SCC does review school safety and gives feedback to the district as part of our responsibilities as a council. This responsibility has already been completed for this school year.
    • Principal Watts mentioned that during the 2023-2024 school year the council can consider inviting Ryan Jakeman the Head of Risk Management for the district, to attend an SCC meeting to discuss Willow Springs’ safety specifically.
    • Kaydee will contact the Lone Peak Elementary Principal to request a copy of their PTA emergency lock down kit for possible use at Willow Springs next school year.
    • The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 am. The council will meet again Wednesday May 17,2023 at 10:00 AM.
