The committee is focusing on the face of the current wildcat. The SCC will provide feedback and opinions as well as be involved with the approval of the final logo.

        5. Positive
        6. Resilient
        7. Enthusiastic
        8. Committed
        9. Safe

    • School Safety Drills
      • Principal Hansen reminded the council of the safety webpage located on the district website. Vocabulary will be changing this year to align with national standards.
      • Not all the videos on the safety webpage are shown to elementary students due to their age.
      • Principal Hansen asked the council their opinion on informing parents of dates for the drills that happen monthly at the school. Thus, giving parents the opportunity to talk with kids before they occur.
      • The council advised the principal to inform parents beforehand the dates of safety drills apart from one “pop quiz” drill. The council feels one uninformed drill will help staff to assess how the children react without forewarning. For all other drills the council thought it important for parents to talk with their children beforehand, especially for those students who may have sensitivity to loud sounds or stressful situations.
      • Kaydee will create the parent emergency flyer discussed by the SCC during last school year, it will be modeled on Lone Peak Elementary’s PTA flyer. The flyer will offer parents the option to send personal emergency materials that are not currently provided by the PTA to be stored in classrooms in case of emergency.
    • Thrive Time Field Test
      • This is a new district initiative (details about it can be found on the district website). It is a life skills curriculum with a focus on helping students, teacher, and faculty to

        • Resolve conflict.
      • This program will be field tested this year at Willow Springs. The field test will be one week of lessons. The week of Sept 18-22.
      • Parents will be informed when lessons will be taking place. Parents will have the option for their child to opt out and parents can help determine alternative activities for their child to participate in during the time lessons are being taught.
      • The SCC would like to send a statement to parents about Thrive Time. Members will coordinate over email to draft the statement.
