    • Principal Hansen reviewed school expenditures. There is still TSSA money in the budget that needs to be used. The council discussed different ways to allocate the remaining funds.
      • One option discussed is purchasing an expanded 95% curriculum (phonics and reading) for 4th and 5th The current 95% curriculum doesn’t have as much content as the grades K-3 have.
        • The council discussed the pros and cons of purchasing more of the 95%
        • Kaydee mentioned she liked the idea of the expanded curriculum since it could potentially offer more support to students who are behind reading level. Specifically, the students in Special Ed., giving them more opportunity to be with their General Ed. peers, limiting the times these students are pulled out.
        • After discussion, all SCC members supported purchasing expanded 95% curriculum.
      • Lexia a reading software used by Willow Springs in the past was not in the budget for the current year. Teachers have voiced their desire to get it back.

        • After discussion the council supports purchasing a Lexia license for the 24/25 school year.
  • Megan Ord asked about the possibility of spending some of the remaining TSSP money on math manipulatives or other materials that could support math learning. Data from this year has shown that we did not meet our goals and the SCC would like to offer support if needed.
    • Principal Hansen will further research.
  • Review Positive Behavior Plan; prepare to submit.
    • Principal Hansen reviewed the proposed plan (presentation attached).
    • The council discussed pros, cons, and concerns, specifically about the restorative principles and restorative circles mentioned in the plan.
      • Shaliese and Jessica voiced their concern about restorative circles being run incorrectly or by those who do not have proper training. They feel such scenarios can be more harmful than helpful. They are also concerned about teachers having the time and ability to run such circles when they have the remainder of the class to attend to.
      • The council revised wording in the proposal to specify that trained individuals will be responsible for restorative circles and that such practices will happen only with administrative approval.
    • The council agreed to the proposed plan with the updated wording.
