  • Welcome
    • All members in attendance.
  • Review and approve minutes.
    • Jessica motioned to approve minutes from the meeting held on April 17th. Megan Ord seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved.
  • LAND Trust plans reviewed by School Performance, any necessary changes
    conveyed to SCC and then submitted to Board of Education.
    • The school’s plan has been approved.
  • SCC discuss elections, open seats; and fall plans if people know them.
    • Jessica, Sarajane and Megan Ord are up for re-election, Shalisse and Megan Guiterrez have another year on their terms. Kaydee’s child is moving on to middle school and will not return for the remaining year of her term next year. In the fall Principal Hansen will organize the recruitment of teachers and staff members for the council.
    • The SCC discussed the importance of having representation on the council from different groups such as special education and second language learners. As well as a mix of teachers from younger grades and upper grades. Members of the council will spread the word to members in the community.
    • 2024-25 meeting schedule can be adjusted if needed and can be addressed with the new council at the beginning of next school year.
  • Review School Safety Report action items.
    • All safety drills were successfully completed throughout the year.
    • Kaydee appreciated principal Hansen’s communications with parents about each drill as they occurred.
  • Assure that the current year’s LAND Trust funds and TSSA funds were spent according to current year’s plans. Determine if your current year’s plan made a difference in the area of our goals (discussion using data).
    • Principal Hansen reviewed the current budget.
      • We are on track to carry over no more than 10% of the budget for the next school year.
    • Denise reviewed the end of year testing results.
      • (See attached presentation) most of the goals that were not met were math goals.
      • The SCC discussed the cons to the end of year testing such as non-familiar test practitioners.
      • If there is data, such as progress monitoring that shows an individual student’s performance is higher than their scores from testing, the Acadience test can be given again by Denise.
      • Shalisse feels that parent volunteers are underutilized and can help with math interventions.
      • SCC discussed having parent volunteer coordinators for each classroom to organize classroom volunteers.
      • Principal Hansen is looking for a volunteer to coordinate volunteer parent recess monitors. SCC parent members agreed to take this task on for the 2024-25 school year.
      • Megan Ord would like to see a baggie book equivalent for math so families can reinforce math at home.
        • The SCC discussed the possibility of short weekly homework assignments to help improve math skills. The council does not want to put more work on teachers’ shoulders but would like a way for parents to offer more support, specifically in math.
      • The SCC discussed the use of remaining cell phone tower funds.
        • Jessica motioned to approve cell phone tower funds for principal discretion. Shalisse seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

        • Jessica motioned to adjourn the meeting; Alyx seconded the motion the meeting was adjourned at 11:33 am.
      • Action Items:
        • Share with the community about the opportunity to serve on the SCC.
