  • Role Call:
    • Kaydee McMahon was absent, everyone else was present.
    • Guest: Mindy Van De Graaff
    • Vice Chair Megan Ord took minutes
  • Approve Minutes
    • Alexis motioned to approve last meetings’ minutes. Sarajane Luper seconded the motion, the council unanimously agreed.
  • Continue writing TSSP and LAND Trust plans for next school year.
    • Mindy Van De Graaff is a guest speaker and is tied with the Beverly Taylor Sorensen Program
    • Council went through the attached Power Point Presentation to set aside $14,000 to keep the Art Booster going since Willow Springs enrollment student numbers will be dropping next year and the Beverly Taylor Sorensen Program will decrease Mindy’s hours to 20 (currently 30)
    • The Council will continue this discussion next month and vote on it at that time.
    • As part of this discussion we reviewed the WSE Budget 23-23 PDF and the Salaries PDF so see that we do have the ability to provide the $14K if agreed upon by all members of the council.
  • Review current year’s LAND Trust plan, data, expenditures, and review if on course or if amendments are necessary.
    • Discussion on math goals. We haven’t had much discussion on math goals this year because in order for the SCC to spend money on something we need to have goals set around those items.  We didn’t want to spend money on math related items this year so we didn’t set any goals around math as it pertains to the SCC. However, Willow Springs still has math related goals.  So, next year, as part of our SCC meetings, just for transparency, a review of all academic goals (ie Math) was suggested – regardless of what the SCC money is being spent on.
    • We Proposed Goals and Spendings 2023-2024
      • We reviewed the suggested goals for next year based on the numbers we are seeing this year. (See Proposed Goals and Spending 2023-2024)
      • As part of this discussion, we decided not to set a Climate Goal because the survey is so arbitrary. We went through several examples of the questions, and we could see how vague and subjective the wording could be. We could see where this information may not be helpful for the purpose in which the results were being used. (see Proposed Goals and Spending 2023-2024)
    • We looked at how Willow Springs is doing on the Utah State Board of Education is doing on the Utah State School Report Card Website and recognized that our multi-language students are struggling and discussed if there are ways we could do better. Denise White shared her experiences learning English.
    • We will continue discussion in March on spending on math programs and multi-language students.
  • Changed April Meeting date to April 12th, instead of April 19th
  • Jessica Smith motioned to end the meeting; Megan Ord seconded it. All members agreed,
  • Meeting adjourned.
